Dominic Wordlaw

Mixed Media/Production Design

Hi! My name is Dominic Wordlaw and I'm a Multi-Media artist based out of North Hollywood, California. I was born in the South Chicago suburbs and raised in the city, I went to school in Colorado and moved out to California in 2019.
Since moving to California I've worked in the entertainment industry as a production assistant, I've had the pleasure of working in the art department on a couple of high-profile shows. I've also gotten to work as a Production Designer for several music videos as well as promotional content for various products. I’ve had the chance to experience studio life, where I got to help produce and record my music. I've been able to immerse myself in creative writing and become part of a production team with the mission of creating a brand new show. And I’ve even discovered yet another passion for graphic design having created content for my brand as well as several others. To say the least, moving to LA has allowed me to truly experience all the art world has to offer and gain an appreciation for all mediums of creativity. It has also allowed me to hone in on my heart’s passions and be more adamant about showcasing my work.
For as long as I can remember I've always been creative and drawn to the arts. My mother was and continues to be a professional dancer, I remember being chauffeured around the city of Chicago, going to different dance classes, performances, and auditions. My father is and has always been entrepreneurially spirited, specifically in contracting, I went to work for my father, learning the tools and the trade and finding I like to get my hands dirty. Creating and free-form expression is literally in my blood. I recall from a very young age that I've always wanted to be an artist, I also remember always caring about nature and all of the earth’s creatures. For a long time in my youth, I only drew dragons and abstract creatures along with fantasy weapons that later turned into more abstract drawings which led to classes in painting. In college I was exposed to the world of printmaking and silkscreening, a process I quickly fell in love with. I also discovered my love of sculpture as well as interactive/performance pieces.
Recently, I've been the most focused on painting/acrylic pours I find that working with such vivid expressions of color and pattern has aligned my energy allowing me to practice mindfulness on a grander scale. I've also been doing a lot of writing in the past few years, writing allows me to delve into a new reality of my creation, my very own domain so to speak. I've also been doing a fair amount of sculptural design lately, sculpting allows my creations to come to 3D life and thus become interactive with the real world which I think is cool. Through my art I hope to reach the heart and souls of all people, I want to inspire the world to think outside of the box, to not confine themselves to the standards of life but to instead create one’s sense of reality and find peace in the process.
